A new program called “BizHub” has been born in Cape May County to assist current and future business efforts in our region. The County announced that a program involving a six-month study into BizHub has been launched following a meeting earlier this month in Trenton. The effort includes Atlantic Cape Community College.
Cape May County officials are applauding action taken by the state to support wineries as part of the visitation element in the Garden State. The county previously established a Cape May Peninsula wine region in our area. The new legislation will help make wineries year-round destinations in New Jersey.
Pay attention to all lifeguard instructions this week at the shore. The National Weather Service has put our region at a high risk of strong rip currents in the ocean through Monday evening. Lifeguards will likely keep bathers in shallow water, for the time being.
The Defense Logistics Agency successfully tested unmanned aircraft systems over Cape May County. The systems were tested to see if emergency supplies could be delivered to first responders during emergencies. The DLA manages the global supply chain for the military. Cape May County was chosen as a test location due to its proximity with water.
Arts and history groups can now apply for some funding from the County of Cape May. This county has received a grant totaling nearly $78,000 that can be applied to local arts and history organizations who need funding. The funding cycle will run through fiscal year 2023.

A very controversial rental tax on Jersey Shore properties will be repealed today by Governor Phil Murphy. A new bill to repeal the 11.6 percent rental tax on short term vacation rental properties arranged directly by owners will be wiped out. Murphy and democrats agreed to repeal the law during budget negotiations earlier this summer.

Three county bridges have received a combined $2.9 million in state grants. The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced the funding will be divided between the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge, Middle Thorofare Bridge, and the Corson’s Inlet substructure rehab project.
