Cape May County has only 34 active resident cases of coronavirus. New figures released before the weekend put 13 cases in Lower Township, and ten in Middle Township. Seven of the County’s 16 communities have zero cases of the virus.
Gasoline prices went up by three cents per gallon in one week in Cape May County. The average price for a gallon of gas locally iw now $.308, which is two cents above the state average. Last year, gasoline prices were $1.02 per gallon cheaper.
A couple from Middle Township have been charged with child endangerment and other offenses. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced that charges were brought against 42 year old Dante Norton and 37 year old Andria Norton. Middle Township Police assisted in the investigation.
Cape May County will be conducting a test of its Code Red emergency alert system during the early afternoon hours of June 17th. County officials announced today that the test will occur sometime after 1pm. The alert is used for countywide emergency and alerts, and is similar to the system used in local municipalities.
The National Commander of the American Legion will be in Cape May County Wednesday. James W. Oxford will visit with American Legion Post #331 in Stone Harbor before coming to Wildwood for a visit with fellow Legion members. Oxford has been a member of the American Legion since 1986.
Twin cotton topped tamarins were born at the Cape May County Zoo. Zoo officials say the two small primates were born on May 13th. The parents are Cordelia and Tam Tam. It’s the second birth for the pair, who also gave birth to a single female last August.
