Local beach communities in our region are being hit with a rash of vehicle thefts this month. At times, the vehicles are located more than an hour away after being driven by the criminals. Stone Harbor Police reported a vehicle theft on social media Wednesday; the vehicle was recovered, and the investigation is ongoing.

Coronavirus continues to wane in Cape May County. The latest figures from the Health Department show that ten of the 16 communities have one or zero cases of the virus. Lower Township has 20 of the County’s 48 total cases. That is the only community in double figures in the number of coronavirus cases.
32,000 rabies baits are being dropped in mainland areas of Cape May County by the Health Department. County officials announced that the baits will be distributed either via helicopter, or by hand in some raccoon habitats, including storm drains. The vaccine is not harmful to pets or animals.

Cape May County Commissioners approved a new budget earlier this week that slightly reduces the anticipated one penny hike in the County tax. Three tenths of a cent was taken off the proposed tax increase. Operational expenses were held to 2020 spending levels.
