LOBIONDO RE-ESTABLISHES LUNG CANCER CAUCUS

New Jersey Congressman Frank LoBiondo announced that he and Congressman Rick Nolan have re-established a Lung Cancer Caucus in Washington.  LoBiondo says the effort has bipartisan support; he lost both of his parents to the disease. ##

MURPHY PICKS UP BACKING FROM CAPE MAY COUNTY DEMOCRATS

Gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy has picked up support from the Cape May County Democratic Party.  Murphy has now earned the endorsement from democrats in all 21 counties of the Garden State.  Republican support is split between Kim Guadagno and Jack Ciattarelli. ##

STATE PROVIDES MORE RELIEF FOR SANDY FORECLOSURE VICTIMS

State residents who are having difficulty paying their mortgages on homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy have a two year reprieve.  The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs approved a plan that would allow these property owners to delay making payments for two more years. ##

Richard Harron failed to secure the GOP nomination for County Sheriff, so now he’s running as a democrat.  Harron announced via social media that he will run against republican pick Bob Nolan, and he secured the endorsement by the Cape May County Democratic Organization. ##

ATLANTIC CITY ELECTRIC PLANS RATE INCREASE TOTALING $70 MILLION

Atlantic City Electric has proposed a $70.2 million rate increase to continue its infrastructure improvements that reduce the number of power outages.  If approved, this would translate into a 6.6 percent rate hike for customers, with the average customer’s bill increasing by about nine dollars per month. ##

APPEAL FILED AGAINST PIPELINE RULING BY PINELANDS COMMISSION

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance has filed a formal appeal regarding the Pinelands Commission’s approval of a natural gas pipeline that will run to the B.L. England Generating Station.  The group argues that the approval of the pipeline goes against the management plan that governs the Pinelands. ##

NEW REPORT: CAPE MAY COUNTY RANKS 16TH IN OVERALL HEALTHINESS
