The Avalon Borough Council approved an emergency contract Wednesday that will result in a clear navigation channel in Princeton Harbor. The contract is for nearly $250,000 and will establish a safe navigation channel in the Harbor used by boaters. The contract comes 27 percent under the engineer’s estimate.
Dozens of people lined up near Avalon Community Hall Monday morning as the Cape May County Department of Health provided walk in vaccinations for the first time today. The vaccinations were announced Sunday evening and people took advantage of the program. The County’s clinic will be moving to Lower Township in less than a month.
Avalon will be conducting a sand backpassing project this spring. Borough officials detailed the project during Wednesday’s Council meeting. The project will result in over 50,000 cubic yards of sand trucked from the center of the beachfront to north end beaches that were eroded during the winter.
The Avalon Borough Council meets Wednesday afternoon and is expected to approve a new budget that includes no tax increase. The new spending plan will also pay cash for some capital improvement projects, and results in all long term general obligation debt being eliminated by the Borough.
