Students who attend Avalon Elementary School took a field trip to the beach Monday. They put 2,000 dune grass plants on the beaches in Avalon as part of an ecological project sponsored by the Avalon Environmental Commission. Council Vice President John McCorristin assisted the students with the effort. ##
Dozens of volunteers braved chilly conditions on Saturday to plant dune grass on the beaches of Avalon. The Avalon Environmental Commission provided 10,000 dune grass stolons to be planted on the beaches near 33rd Street. Dune grass fortifies the dunes and improves resiliency. ##
