If you noticed some large plumes of smoke on Friday morning, there was a controlled burn taking place. Hamilton Township Police say that the New Jersey State Forrest Fire Service conducted a controlled burn in the area of Strawberry Fields, located off Route 322, just west of Carmen’s Farm Market.
A restaurant chain in Atlantic County is closing. Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Egg Harbor Township has closed. In total, five restaurants under the Bloomin’ Brands restaurant chain has closed in New Jersey, but this was the only one in our region. Sales for the company overall fell in 2016.

An investigation by the Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section has resulted in the arrest of two Public Safety Telecommunications Operators and the suspension of two more. Two men accused of supplying heroin into Atlantic and Ocean counties entered guilty pleas. Richard Michilena, of Elmwood Park and Bolivar Delacruz, of Lodi will have 10 year recommended sentences.
