A major dredging project will be conducted for the first time between Brigantine and Long Beach Island. State officials announced that a dredging project for the Little Egg Inlet is needed because parts of the channels are no longer navigable. More than one million cubic yards of sand will be removed from the channel.
A Boston Market restaurant in Somers Point caught fire on Thursday and remained closed for the rest of the day. A fire started in some mulch, spread up the side of the restaurant and wound up on the roof early Thursday afternoon. Three fire companies responded; there were no injuries.
