It was a major mess Sunday afternoon on the eastbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway as a tractor trailer accident closed all eastbound lanes near milepost 20. The trailer spilled fuel onto the roadway which closed all eastbound traffic. Emergency crews cleaned up the mess. ##
16 people were arrested, many of them in Atlantic County, on various gun and drug trafficking charges. Authorities announced that 39 year old Kenneth J. Burrell of Egg Harbor City allegedly headed up the crime ring. Police executed five search warrants and recovered over 20 guns and 10,000 bags of heroin. ##
A major traffic accident Friday morning has closed a portion of Pomona Road near Stockton University’s athletic fields. The Press of Atlantic City reports that three vehicles were involved in the accident; no word on any injuries or how long the road will be closed. ##
The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Marine Mammal Stranding Center is nursing eight seals back to health, with another coming from North Carolina. A small gray seal pup has suffered from shark bites but is getting better. The Center is seeking donations to help with these seals. ##
Democrats in Atlantic County have selected Buena Vista Township Committeeman John Armato to be the second candidate for the New Jersey Assembly in the fall election. Armato will join incumbent Vince Mazzeo on the democratic ticket. ##
Republican and democratic gubernatorial debates are headed to Stockton University. The University announced that it has been selected by the New Jersey Law Enforcement Commission to hold the debates, tentatively scheduled for May 9th. ##
An Atlantic County man has been charged with selling misbranded drugs under the guise of popular drugs to treat men with sexual performance issues. 64 year old Mark Snyder of Egg Harbor Township received packages from India with unapproved generics and packaged them for re-sale. Snyder is not a registered pharmacist. ##
Democrats in Atlantic County will meet for a second time in two weeks Tuesday night to pick an assembly candidate. They’ll gather in Egg Harbor City to select a running mate for Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo; there are four candidates in the running. ##
Hamilton Township Police are investigating a home invasion robbery early Saturday morning that resulted in two adults being duct taped while the home was being ransacked. Smoking is not welcome on the beaches of Longport. Officials have approved a beach smoking ban that also includes no smoking provisions at Borough buildings, parks, and various recreational facilities. Cash fines will be handed to violators. ##
