There are major changes coming to the schedule for a massive dune project in Margate and Longport. Longport will likely see some work conducted this summer, while Margate may skate this summer and have its work conducted in the fall. Dredges scheduled to do the work are still in Florida. ##
A 26 year old Mays Landing man was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday night. Hamilton Township Police say Jefrey Ramirez lost control of his motorcycle on Babcock Road near the George L. Hess school and crashed. Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. ##
A 16 year old boy from Galloway Township attempted to build his own assault rifle. Authorities in the Township say the boy was arrested last week after he was caught having all of the parts to build an AR 15 assault rifle. Police did not find ammo for the weapon. ##
The final group of Margate residents who were steadfast in fighting a plan to install dunes in the community has thrown in the towel. They have abandoned their fight against the dune plan even though they say the dunes will compromise the views from their homes. ##
It’s a double header of gubernatorial debates planned for Stockton University come May 9th. The university announced today it will hold back to back republican and gubernatorial debates for governor on that date. The debates will be held at 6:30pm, and 8:00pm; no word yet on which party goes first. ##
Stockton University will host a discussion tonight on the opioid epidemic in South Jersey. Various advocates will discuss the problem with illegal drug use in Atlantic County and elsewhere. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Atlantic County experienced 85 drug related deaths in 2015. ##
A major drug bust in Hamilton Township Thursday night recovered guns and narcotics. Police say two men in their 50s from Mays Landing were arrested after authorities found drugs, drug scales, two handguns and a shotgun inside their home on Harbor Avenue. Both men were hauled off to jail. ##
A 35 year old man was injured while he was riding his bicycle and was struck by a car near Holy Spirit High School in Absecon. Authorities say the driver sped off and left the scene of the accident; police are asking the public for information about this accident. ##
26 year old Matthew Gonzalez of Mays Landing was busted Tuesday evening during a motor vehicle stop in Hamilton Township. Police say they recovered marijuana, Oxycotin pills, and $3000 cash during a search of his vehicle. Gonzalez was taken to the Atlantic County Jail. ##
A 58 year old man from Mays Landing has been charged by Hamilton Township Police for selling heroin. Anthony Bertolino allegedly sold the heroin and mailed it to an individual in Old Bridge who wound up overdosing on the drug. ##
