One man is dead and three others were wounded during a shooting at a condo complex in Mays Landing on Sunday night. Atlantic County authorities say the investigation is continuing, and so far no suspects are in custody. One of those injured is still in critical condition.
Monday brought another admission of guilt in connection with a prescription insurance fraud scheme. 42 year old Judd Holt was in federal court and admitted that he stole nearly $800,000 in the scheme that has involved medical doctors and professionals. Holt is the seventh individual to plead guilty.
Students and teachers were evacuated this morning from the Jordan Road School in Somers Point due to a potential gas leak. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the school’s fire alarm was going off as parents arrived to drop students off for the day. South Jersey Gas has responded to the potential leak.
Authorities in Hamilton Township say three people were shot at the Brandywood condo complex. Both New Jersey State Police and Hamilton Township Police remain at the scene this morning investigating the shooting. No word yet on a suspect or the extent of the victims’ injuries.
Atlantic County Dr. John Gaffney has pleaded guilty to his participation in a health care fraud scheme. Gaffney was in court before the weekend and admitted to a count of conspiracy to commit fraud in the $25 million scheme. He could face up to ten years behind bars.
Don’t always trust your GPS for accurate directions. The driver of a tractor trailer did just that Wednesday morning in Ventnor and wound up driving up onto the Ventnor boardwalk with no way to get off. The truck damaged about 100 feet worth of railings on the boardwalk during the wrong turn.
Stockton University police are searching for three people who were caught on camera putting up white nationalist flyers inside campus buildings over the weekend. The flyers were not authorized by the university and were removed on Monday. Images of the suspects have been caught on camera.
The arraignment of former Atlantic County doctor James Kauffman on weapons charges will not be held Thursday as planned. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the arraignment has been postponed by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office; no new date has been announced. Kauffman remains in custody after being arrested in June.
