Atlantic City Police say some new high tech equipment in a surveillance center led them to a man who allegedly swiped a handbag from the Knife and Fork Restaurant. Police arrested 36 year old Neil Rivera of Egg Harbor City after the equipment tracked down his whereabouts. ##

Atlantic City Police Officer Josh Vadell spoke before the weekend to a large crowd about potential state cutbacks to the Atlantic City Police Department. Vadell was critically wounded during a shooting incident last year. The state has proposed cutting the police force by 24 officers, and the fire department by 100 members. ##
Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian is seeking re-election. Guardian kicked off his campaign Thursday in front of City Hall. Boardwalk Hall is getting a new general manager. The facility this week announced that Jim Wynkoop will begin his tenure as the new manager of the hall starting on Monday. Boardwalk Hall gets up to 300,000 visitors per year with entertainment and sporting events.

Atlantic City police have filed a lawsuit in an attempt to prevent cuts to the city’s police department. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday shortly after the state announced that it was making changes to the police officers’ contracts. Both the PBA and the Superior Officers Association filed lawsuits.
A four year old child was struck by a school bus Monday in Atlantic City. Police say the child was struck while walking across Filbert Avenue with family members. The bus driver stopped the bus immediately and there were no other injuries. The child is being treated at Cooper Hospital.
