It was a difficult start to the day early Sunday morning for the Atlantic City Fire Department. It had to rescue 14 people who were stuck inside an elevator at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City. Each of those who had to be rescued were lifted 100 feet up the elevator shaft. ##
51 year old Jose B. Lopez of Ventnor has been indicted in connection with a double stabbing in Atlantic City earlier this year that left one victim dead. Lopez has been charged with murder, attempted murder and other offenses relating to the stabbing that killed 54 year old Bessie Blanco of Atlantic City. ##
The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has given a thumbs up to a beer garden in Atlantic City. The Authority approved a plan to put the beer garden between South California and South Belmont Avenues. Over 300 people may be accommodated, and there will be two bars. It could open July 4th. ##
The State of New Jersey decided to privatize Atlantic City’s trash collection services without approval from City Council. A three year deal has been awarded to Gold Medal Environmental, according to the Press of Atlantic City. Council meets next tomorrow. ##
Atlantic City Police have announced the arrest of 31 year old Lorin Wright in connection with a deadly shooting on Mother’s Day. Police say Wright shot and killed 32 year old Keith Cundiff Jr. on North Maryland Avenue Sunday afternoon. ##
Atlantic City Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Mother’s Day that killed a man. Police say the shooting occurred in the Back Maryland section of the city. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation moving forward. ##
A 41 year old man from Atlantic City was critically injured in a motor vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Pleasantville. Authorities say David Aikens was heading north on Doughty Road when his car crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a pole. Aikens was the only individual inside the vehicle. ##
Hard Rock paid only $50 million for the Trump Taj Mahal property in Atlantic City. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Hard Rock also secured more than 30 acres of property in the deal with Carl Ichan, who closed the casino last October. ##
A 31 year old man from Hammonton was shot and killed in Atlantic City Friday night. Atlantic County authorities say David Blackwell Jr. was shot on North Virginia Avenue. He was pronounced dead less than two hours later; no suspects are in custody. ##
Emergency management personnel from around the State are attending a week long conference in Atlantic City to learn new methods to enact their emergency plans. Many Cape May County communities have sent personnel to the Tropicana to learn new programs and systems to save lives and properties during major storm events. ##
