A 41 year old Atlantic City man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child over a period of several years. Atlantic County prosecutors announced that charges have been filed against Santos Blanco who allegedly assaulted the child at his home and other locations.
A 54 year old Millville man was arrested in Atlantic City Monday when he was spotted by police selling drugs along Ocean Avenue. Police say Derrick Jenkins fled the scene on a bike, and was eventually captured with over 50 bags of heroin in his possession.
A two day country music festival scheduled for Bader Field in Atlantic City later this month has been cancelled. Event organizers did not provide specifics on why the festival was scrubbed; it was expected to include several live concerts. People who bought tickets will be offered a refund.
A man who threatened to jump from an Atlantic City casino parking garage was yanked to safety by police Monday morning. NJ.com reports that it happened as the man sat on the tenth floor ledge of the Caesars Casino parking garage. The man reportedly sat on the ledge for about an hour.
An investment firm from New York has increased its offer to purchase the former Revel Casino in Atlantic City by $5 million, to $225 million. Keating & Associates made the better offer to purchase the casino, which has been shuttered for the past three years.
A man who’s stomach was burned when he drank a beer tainted with a caustic chemical in Atlantic City has been awarded a $750,000 judgement. Richard Washart suffered severe internal burns when he ingested the beer at McCormick & Schmick’s Restaurant at Harrah’s casino. The restaurant blamed a beverage company for causing the error.
Mourners paid their final respects to New Jersey State Senator James Whelan on Thursday. A memorial service was held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and brought both democrats and republicans together to honor the man who used to serve as mayor of Atlantic City. Whelan died at the age of 68 on August 22nd.
