On his last full day as governor, Chris Christie signed a bill into law that renames the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall in the memory of former Atlantic City Mayor and Atlantic County Senator Jim Whelan. Boardwalk Hall was constructed back in 1929 and at one time was the world’s largest clear span space.
The United States Coast Guard rescued a fisherman who became ill on a boat about 60 miles away from Atlantic City early Thursday morning. Officials say the Delaware Bay commander center was notified about the ill fisherman on the boat “Illusion”. The man was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment.
