A suspect in a hit and run stabbed an Atlantic City cop before he was shot and killed by the officer. Police in the city say 32 year old Timothy Deal approached the officer, stabbed him, and then was shot dead. The officer was treated and released for the stabbing.
Two Cumberland County men have been convicted on charges that they conducted attempted murder against Atlantic City Police Officer Josh Vadell. Vadell was shot in the head during a criminal incident in September, 2016. Vadell said after the verdict was read that he is satisfied. Sentencing will be held for both convicts in September.

Vadell was shot during a robbery attempt in the downtown area. Vadell was shot in the head during the incident; he survived and testified in the case.
The United States Coast Guard rescued four adults and two children off a boat that ran aground Thursday night just south of Great Island in Atlantic City. The Guard reports that the individuals in the water were wearing life jackets and all were safely rescued. The call first came in from the Ventnor Police Department.

Atlantic City’s council met Wednesday evening and unanimously voted to introduce a new budget that includes no tax increase. The $225 million spending plan will be approved during a meeting in July. The city is relying on $5 million in various grants to balance the budget.
