Three people have been charged in connection with the violent carjacking of a Lyft driver in Atlantic City earlier this week. Police say they are still searching for two individuals connected to the case. The driver was beaten, pepper sprayed, and removed from his vehicle Monday evening. One juvenile is connected to the crime.

The Miss America Organization is looking elsewhere to hold its pageant, and may leave Atlantic City again. The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has seen its contract with the pageant organization expire, along with millions of dollars in funding. It’s possible the pageant could remain, but other locations are being explored.
32 year prison terms have been handed to two men involved in the shooting of former Atlantic City Police officer Josh Vadell. Martell Chisholm and Demetris Cross were both handed the sentences for their roles in the shooting two years ago. Both men appeared before Superior Court Judge John Rauh in Atlantic County.
Atlantic City’s casinos earned 20 percent more revenue last month than they did during the same month one year ago. New gaming figures were released showing the casinos taking in nearly a quarter of a billion dollars last month. A 31 year old Atlantic City man has been convicted in a murder case from six years ago. Joshua Cross was convicted this week in the 2012 slaying of Sedrick Lindo at the Carver Hall apartment complex.
Atlantic City Mayor Frank Gilliam Jr. and Councilman Jeffree Fauntleroy II both pleaded not guilty in North Wildwood Municipal Court to charges relating to a fight near an Atlantic City casino last month. The case was moved to Cape May County to avoid a conflict of interest. Gilliam’s plea was entered via a letter.
Gene Allen is back as head coach of the Atlantic City High School boys’ basketball program. A judge ruled Monday that the Board of Education violated Allen’s right to due process and reinstated Allen as coach for the upcoming season. The school board may react to the judge’s decision during its meeting Tuesday.
