Both the Hard Rock and Ocean Resort casinos could soon see their employees represented by Local 54. The Press of Atlantic City reports that both casinos are moving towards the union, and the Hard Rock may be the first to join. Both casinos had been shuttered by the economy, but have since reopened.
Gaming revenues substantially increased in Atlantic City during the final month of 2018. New figures show the casinos taking in 25.1 percent more revenue in December, 2018 than they did one year ago. The final gaming numbers for 2018 show the casinos took in just shy of $3 billion last year.
The Ocean Resort Casino is changing hands after being in business for less than a year. The former Revel property in Atlantic City is being acquired by a company that plans major investments. The casino is being sold by Bruce Deifik. The casino will remain open during the transition.

A man was shot and killed inside the Sunset Inn Motel in Atlantic City Friday night. WPVI-TV reports that the wounded man was found inside the motel shortly before 9pm Friday. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead later in the night at a city hospital.
A 21 year old man was found shot to death inside a car in Atlantic City on New Year’s day. The victim was found at the intersection of Lincoln and Ohio avenues. Authorities say he had multiple gunshot wounds.
Two Atlantic City casinos have been fined for breaking sports betting laws. Both the Golden Nugget and Caesars Entertainment were punished for accepting bets for college football games involving teams from New Jersey. Every New Jersey college is exempt from any sports betting in New Jersey.
