Another sure sign the gaming market in Atlantic City is on the rebound. April provided a nearly 17 percent increase in total gaming revenue according to new figures released late Tuesday. This is the 11th month in a row that the casinos have enjoyed more revenue. An improving economy and sports gaming are both helping.
It’s back in operation. On Sunday, the Atlantic City Rail Line went back into service after being shut down last September for safety issues. The rail service went on line two weeks before its anticipated start date, Memorial Day weekend.
New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew will deliver the keynote address at Stockton University’s graduation Friday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Van Drew is in his first year in Congress; he previously served seven terms in the State Legislature.
Conductors were assigned to the closed Atlantic City Rail Line and were even paid overtime for showing up to the job. Reports say the conductors were working long hours at train stations serving as “ambassadors” to inform people the trains were not running. NJ Transit records show over $164,000 in overtime pay alone.
A fire damaged a row home in Atlantic City Monday night. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the fire started after 10:00pm and took fire crews about two hours to extinguish. The home is known for vagrant activity. No word of any injuries.
The new Ocean Casino Resort is now making money in Atlantic City. The Associated Press reports that the company has been able to pay down debt and is starting to show a profit. The casino was known as the Ocean Resort Casino, and formerly the Revel, until recently.
Power has been restored in Atlantic City following a Sunday night outage that affected parts of the gaming resort. Among the victims of the power outage…the Tropicana Casino. All power is back on in the city this morning.

Caesars Entertainment is ready to open two large sports betting facilities in Atlantic City, including the largest in the city. Harrah’s Resort and Bally’s Atlantic City Wild West will both have large sports betting facilities before the heart of the summer season. The location at Bally’s may be the largest in the entire state.
The Atlantic City Blackjacks will play their first ever home game this weekend. The Blackjacks are an Arena Football League team that began the season with a loss last weekend. Atlantic City will host Columbus, another first-year team, Saturday afternoon at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
