The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that Cape May County and eight others in the Garden State are now at high transmission rates for coronavirus. Atlantic, Camden, Gloucester, and Ocean are also at high risk, but not Cumberland or Salem. New Jersey has over 700 people hospitalized with the virus.
Wildwood Police have charged 18 year old Daniel Corkery of Wildwood on charges that he caused the drug induced death of another individual. Police responded on May 2nd to a call of a possible narcotics overdose; the victim died as a result of taking the drug. Corkery was lodged in the Cape May County Jail.
Wildwood city officials have approved a change in its solid waste contract with Gold Medal Environmental. City officials added another $128,000 to the contract to continue trash and recycling services through the summer. Avalon was the first community to change its contract; solid waste haulers are being crushed by labor and fuel costs.
