Wildwood officials are poised to adopt a municipal budget with a tax hike on Wednesday. The City Commission will also consider a plan to have an independent financial advisor provide an analysis of the water and sewer utility. The man who has been imprisoned for the murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster has been ordered to be released by the New Jersey Supreme Court. The Court ruled 3-2 that Sundiata Acoli presents no threat to the public and should be released. He was denied parole on eight separate occasions.
The coastal storm has left us, but we are still left with a wind advisory in effect for today. Wind gusts could approach 50 mph today, which could result in minor tidal flooding at time of high tide and some additional beach erosion. The winds will finally subside on Wednesday.
Cape May County now has over 300 coronavirus cases, with 55 new cases added over the past 24 hours. Lower Township has 90 of the cases, while Middle Township has 61 new cases. Only Cape May Point is Covid-free.
Another Catholic high school will close in New Jersey at the conclusion of the current school year. NJ.com reports that Mater Dei High School in Monmouth County will close for good next month. A drop in enrollment and a lack of money are the reasons why the school is closing.
Ocean City voters are headed to the polls today to elect a mayor and three members of Council. The big news in Ocean City is the race for mayor, as incumbent Jay Gillian is being challenged by Councilman Keith Hartzell. Polls close at 8:00pm.
