Local communities held Arbor Day celebrations this morning. In Avalon, Mayor Martin Pagliughi helped the local garden club celebrate the day with the planting of a young oak tree on a traffic median. Arbor Day has been celebrated for 150 years.
Starting next week, you will no longer be able to purchase Styrofoam cups, plates, or containers in New Jersey. It’s all swept up in the plastic bag ban that takes affect on May 4th. NJ.com reports Styrofoam and some other products will be prohibited in New Jersey for environmental reasons.

North Wildwood Police have arrested two fugitives from Delaware after their pickup truck was spotted at work sites where burglaries have taken place.
