STATE ANNOUNCES NEW REAL TIME TRAFFIC ALERT SYSTEM FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

New Jersey is trying to make it easier for commercial vehicle drivers to avoid hazards on the roadway.  State officials unveiled a new real time traffic alert system that will help commercial drivers avoid hazardous conditions.  In-cab congestion updates will be offered to commercial drivers, including those using the Garden State Parkway.

STATE REPORTS 142 NEW COVID-RELATED DEATHS OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS

New Jersey reported 142 new coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours.  State officials say the surge is caseloads continues with over 21,000 new coronavirus cases during that same time.  Governor Murphy is expected to have a new health emergency that would provide him with some additional powers.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will deliver the annual State of the State address today.  Murphy is expected to discuss the continuing impacts and recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, and other matters.  The address will begin at 5:00pm.

CAPE MAY POLICE ADDS NIXLE TO COMMUNICATION SERVICES

The Cape May City Police Department announced that it has joined Nixle for its communication services.  The message delivery service is available for free and will result in alerts being distributed to the greater Cape May area.  Residents can sign up for the service on the department’s social media page.

Covid has changed the date for students to return to school at Atlantic Cape Community College.  College officials announced on their website that the starting date for next semester has been pushed back to begin on January 24th.  The school anticipates no further changes to its calendar.
