Friday was a night of celebration in some local communities. Cape May held its annual tree lighting event, while the Wildwood Jaycees held their annual holiday parade; North Wildwood Police were among the participants. Middle Township also held its holiday parade Friday night.
Work will begin soon on a section of Asbury Avenue in Ocean City. City officials announced that pipe work will be done on a section of the roadway from 36th Street to 39th Street. Siphon drains are being eliminated.
Governor Phil Murphy has signed new legislation into law that extends the child and dependent care act in New Jersey. The legislation will allow families who earn under $150,000 annually to be eligible for the credit. Murphy says the pandemic impacted working parents, and this adjustment was necessary.
The new omicron variant of coronavirus has appeared in the Garden State. Governor Murphy announced Friday night that a woman from New Jersey had travelled to South Africa, and she tested positive at the end of November. The woman is experiencing moderate symptoms, and is recovering.
