The Chief Executive Officer of the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City resigned this week after turning the fortunes of the resort. Terry Glebocki resigned, and news of her resignation was delivered to staff on Monday. The property lost money for years, until recently when Glebocki turned around the casino’s profitability.
The number of new coronavirus cases in New Jersey took a downward turn this week. New figures released late Monday show only 854 new cases of the virus in New Jersey, with only six additional deaths. The seven day average in the Garden State is down by 12 percent.
Cape May County has 17 new cases of coronavirus, and our overall County residential caseload remains below 400. For the first time in awhile, Middle Township has reached the 100 case mark again. Seven of the County’s 16 communities have single digit numbers of the virus.
West Nile Virus has infected a human in Atlantic County. The virus is typically transmitted through a mosquito bite. There have been 28 human cases of the virus this year in New Jersey. Most infected humans will not develop symptoms.
A 35 year old man was shot to death in Atlantic City Sunday morning. Authorities say the shooting took place on South Georgia Avenue shortly after 4:00am. The man was pronounced dead at the scene; the suspect is still at large.
