Cape May County has 302 active cases of coronavirus. New figures released by the County late Friday show 73 cases in Lower Township and 52 in Middle Township. Every municipality has at least one case of Covid-19. The number of non resident active cases is four.
North Wildwood is having a huge flea market on Sunday. City police say the flea market will result in the southbound lanes of JFK Beach Drive will have delays, while the northbound lane will be closed starting at 5am Sunday.
Spirit Airlines continues to cancel flights throughout the country. On Saturday, Spirit flights between Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando were cancelled. So-called “operational issues” have prevented the airline from keeping its flight schedule in many airports. Other flights out of ACY Saturday are operating.
Students and teachers will both be required to wear masks inside school facilities when the school year starts. Governor Murphy sparked a political debate over the effectiveness of masks when he made the announcement Friday, and immediately became the target of GOP attacks. Some protestors appeared at the announcement denouncing the Governor’s message.
Some retail stores and chain restaurants are now requiring customers and employees to mask up. McDonald’s and Apple stores are requiring everyone to wear a mask; stores that now require employees to wear a mask include Acme, Home Depot, Starbucks, Lowe’s, and Wawa. Other locations in select areas include TJ Maxx, Kohl’s, and Marshalls.
