85 YEAR OLD MAN FROM MIDDLE TOWNSHIP LATEST COVID VICTIM

An 85 year old man is the latest local fatality from coronavirus.  County officials announced 37 new cases on Wednesday, which is higher than the recent trend.  Over 52,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered to people in Cape May County.

WILDWOOD INTRODUCES BUDGET, NEARLY TWO CENT TAX INCREASE

The Wildwood City Commission introduced a new budget Wednesday afternoon that increases the local purpose tax rate by 1.9 cents.  Mayor Pete Byron says the city is turning away from out of line annual tax increases.  He says the new budget includes an aggressive capital improvement program.

GETTING STIMULATED? STATE WON’T ALLOW YOUR CHECK TO BE GARNISHED

If you receive a federal stimulus check, it cannot be garnished by creditors or debt collectors.  Governor Murphy is signing an executive order that will prevent any creditors from gobbling up your stimulus check.  Murphy says he would rather see New Jerseyans use it to actually stimulate the economy.

NEW JERSEY AGAIN REPORTS OVER 3,000 NEW CASES OF CORONAVIRUS

New Jersey has again confirmed over 3,000 new cases of coronavirus.  State officials announced Wednesday that there are more than 2,000 people in the hospital with the virus.  The rate of transmission continues at 1.09 percent, which indicates the virus is spreading.

NEW JERSEY HAS PROVIDED 3.6 MILLION VACCINES, MANY MORE ON THE WAY

New Jersey has provided over 3.6 million vaccines for the coronavirus.  Governor Phil Murphy confirms that there will be many more vaccines coming to the Garden State within the next two weeks.

AVALON BOROUGH COUNCIL TO APPROVE BUDGET WITH NO TAX INCREASE

The Avalon Borough Council meets Wednesday afternoon and is expected to approve a new budget that includes no tax increase.  The new spending plan will also pay cash for some capital improvement projects, and results in all long term general obligation debt being eliminated by the Borough.

The historic Clementon Amusement Park was sold at auction for just over $2 million.  The 114 year old park was purchased by a buyer who intends to open the amusement park again in the future.  The winning bid also includes a liquor license.
