Cape May County reported 39 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday. The County is just shy of 600 active cases in the community. There have been nearly 5,000 cases of the virus locally during the pandemic.
The news regarding coronavirus in the State on Sunday was largely poor. New Jersey reported 5,032 new cases of the virus along with 32 new deaths. The rate of transmission is back on the way up at 1.08 percent. Over the past week, the state has averaged over 5,000 new cases per day.
There is one new death to report in Cape May County from coronavirus. County officials announced the passing of a 72 year old man from Woodbine. There are 49 new cases of the virus in the County. Middle and Lower townships continue to have the most cases.
New Jersey broke its own single-day record for the most number of reported coronavirus cases in a single day. State officials confirmed on Saturday 6,435 new cases of the virus, and 102 additional deaths. The good news…the number of those in the hospital with Covid-19 dropped.
