An active taxpayers group in Cape May is scheduled to meet Friday morning. The Taxpayers Association of Cape May will hold a special meeting at the Kiwanis Clubhouse in the city. The group will discuss current litigation and efforts to construct a public safety building.
There will be no tax increase in Middle Township in 2020. The Township Committee this week introduced a new $22 million spending plan that holds the line on taxes. Middle Township may have the same tax rate for three consecutive years, if this budget is approved.
It looks like there will be a contested race for a vacant Council seat in Ocean City. Tom Rotondi turns in his nominating petition this week for the seat vacated by Assemblyman Antwan McClellan. Rotondi is expected to square off against Gabe Staino for the seat.
Michael Donohue made it official Wednesday, explaining reasons why he left his position as a Superior Court judge last week. Governor Phil Murphy underwent successful surgery on a kidney tumor. Lt. Gov. Shelia Oliver disclosed Wednesday afternoon that the surgery was successful, and Murphy is recovering at a New York City hospital. No word yet if the tumor was cancerous.
