UPPER TOWNSHIP: GOP WINS, HOLDS ON TO ALL SEATS
The Upper Township Committee stays all republican. John Coggins and Hobie Young were re-elected Tuesday night, easily defeating democrat Donald Oral. The margin of victory was over 1,200 votes.

A big change in the dynamics of Wildwood politics. Ernie Troiano was voted out Tuesday night, while Pete Byron remains in office. Also joining the Wildwood City Commission will be newcomers Krista Fitzsimons, the top vote getter, and Steve Milulski. Troiano finished fourth.
Dennis Township stays in GOP control. Zeth Matalucci and Matthew Cox won the committee elections on Tuesday night, over democrat Carlos Morales. The GOP remains in control in Dennis.
Not many people ever thought this day would come–the republican party will hold all three seats in Middle Township. Jim Norris was elected in a close election Tuesday night, defeating incumbent Michael Clark. This puts the entire three member committee in the hands of the republicans.
A big win for the GOP in the Cape May County Freeholder race as incumbents Gerald Thornton and Marie Hayes were the big winners Tuesday night. They turned back democratic opposition and were re-elected to four year terms. Joyce Gould of Wildwood Crest placed third.
The 177th Fighter Wing out of Atlantic County will be responsible for some audible jets zooming through the skies during the nighttime hours this week. The unit announced on social media that night training flights resume this evening, and continue all week. Most of the activity will wrap up before midnight.
There are several contested school board elections in Cape May County during today’s balloting. Middle Township, Ocean City, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest are among the communities with contested elections. Stone Harbor needs to fill one seat, but nobody is on the ballot.
Swimming pools are on the election ballots in both Sea Isle City and Lower Township today. Voters will be asked if they support aquatic centers that would be constructed in both communities. The Lower Township center would be supported in part by a grant from the Cape May County Open Space program.
It’s going to snow Thursday night in New Jersey..but not here. Accu Weather is calling for an inch, maybe two inches, of snow in some northwestern portions of the state. However, here at the shore it will likely be a rain event, ending Friday morning with much colder temperatures moving in for a dry weekend.
