BEAR HUNTING UNDERWAY IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY THIS WEEK

It’s time to hunt for bear in the Garden State.  The black bear hunt got underway Monday and is now open to hunters with bows and arrows.  Rifle hunters can participate on Thursday and Friday.  The bear hunt is restricted to five zones, none of which are on state property.

TUESDAY IS YOUR LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE

Tuesday is your last day to register to vote in the State of New Jersey.  Offices in all 21 counties will remain open until 9:00pm so you can register to vote in the upcoming elections.  Locally, all three legislative seats, two freeholder seats, and various municipal seats are all up for grabs in November.

TWO MEN RESCUED IN ATLANTIC CITY WHEN SCAFFOLDING GAVE WAY

Two men were rescued by firemen in Atlantic City Monday morning when the scaffolding they were working on gave way at Atlantic and Kentucky Avenues.  The two men were able to cling to the scaffolding before they were rescued.  Both workers were uninjured.

NO FISH STORY: FIVE YEAR OLD CATCHES 300 POUND SUNFISH

This is no fish story..a five year old boy reportedly helped his family catch a 300-pound sunfish while canoeing in Lavallette Sunday.  NJ.com reports the boy got the bite on the big fish, and his family helped reel it in.  The family eventually released the fish into the open bay.

NEW JERSEY STATE POLICE ID GIRL KILLED ON CARNIVAL RIDE

New Jersey State Police have identified the little girl who died over the weekend on a carnival ride as ten year old Hailey McMullen of Deerfield Township.  McMullen was ejected from the “Xtreme” amusement ride during a carnival and died of her injuries less than two hours later.  So far no word on any confirmation…

WOMAN AT CENTER OF WILDWOOD BEACH FIGHT FILES SUIT

AVALON BEACH FILL COULD BEGIN THIS WEEKEND

A beach fill project that is expected to place over a half million cubic yards of sand on Avalon’s north end beaches is expected to begin this weekend.  The beach fill is a partnership involving federal and state agencies and will restore Avalon’s north end beaches to a design template.

REPORT: SUPPORT COLUMNS UNSTABLE IN FRONT OF CAPE MAY BEACH THEATER

Support columns in front of Cape May’s former Beach Theater are now unstable, and the sidewalk in front of the property has been roped off by city officials.  The Cape May Star and Wave reports that the columns supporting an overhang are unstable and unsafe, and the sidewalk is closed off as a precaution.
