Fire has destroyed a local watering hole in Egg Harbor City. Luby’s Bar went up in flames Wednesday. There are no injuries reported, and no cause yet of what sparked the fire. The bar is a total loss.
A huge honor for the Morey Organization this week. Amusement Today magazine named Morey’s Piers the 2019 Park of the Year. The magazine says the piers help define Wildwood and offer a variety of rides and experiences.
A knock out opioid abuse town hall is being held in Cape May on October 2nd. Officials say the event is a multi-agency partnership and we will be held at the Cape May Convention Center starting at 9:00am. The Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey will be part of the event.
New Jersey may become the first state to outlaw all vaping. Senate President Steve Sweeney told NJ Advance Media that he’s considering an outright ban on all vaping in the Garden State. Sweeney intends to propose new state legislation to outlaw vaping.
Online discount codes, coupons and rebates would all end in New Jersey for cigarette and vaping products. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee approved the bill on Tuesday. Retailers would face stiff fines if they are caught providing discounts to the public.
Congressman Jeff Van Drew will be bringing a House subcommittee hearing to Wildwood on September 16th. The hearing will be held at the Wildwoods Convention Center and will discuss the conflict between offshore wind energy and the rights of fishermen. The hearing begins at 10am.
Cape May County will drop over 31,000 rabies baits, starting later this month. The baits will be hand-placed and dropped from the air to help control rabies in wild animals. The project will take up to two weeks.
A new Burlington store will open in the Wrangleboro Plaza on Friday. The new store replaces the former store that was located at the Shore Mall. The Burlington store will feature clothing for all ages, and of course, coats.
