No one will be able to complain about the Labor Day weekend forecast at the shore. Accu Weather is calling for sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s along the beaches Friday through Sunday. Clouds move in Sunday night and showers are possible for the long commute home Monday afternoon.
An opioid awareness event will be held Thursday afternoon at the Lighthouse Church in Middle Township. The event begins at 5pm and will include free Naloxone training, speakers, and overdose prevention strategies. The church is located on Route 9 South in Cape May Court House.
The Wildwood Fire Department responded to a dwelling fire on West Baker Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Fire officials say the building suffered about $50,000 worth of damage, but there were no injuries. Occupants of the dwelling were relocated.
Woodbine is getting a $3 million federal grant that will be applied to the municipal airport. Woodbine officials announced that the federal funding will pay for improvements to Taxiway B at the airport. That area has not been rehabilitated since the 1980s.
There will be no increase in the state’s gasoline tax this year. The Murphy administration announced Wednesday that the 41.4 cent tax you pay on every gallon of gasoline will not be increasing in 2019. The state sold more gas than anticipated, so the need for an increase in the tax was negated.
Two service plazas on the Garden State Parkway in southern New Jersey will close after Labor Day weekend for major renovations. Service plazas located in Galloway Township, and north on the Parkway in Forked River will both close. They will reopen in time for Memorial Day weekend, 2020.
Accu Weather is calling for a Coastal Flood Advisory for tonight’s high tide. Minor coastal flooding could occur in flood prone areas this evening during high tide, which is generally just after 7pm. Roads that are very prone to coastal flooding could see some high water this evening.
