44 year old Stephan Byrd of Vineland faces a minimum of a quarter century in prison for robbing three local banks in 2014. Byrd robbed banks in Mays Landing, Vineland and Malaga in a period of two months. Byrd was convicted on all charged on Friday.
Cape May will be adopting a municipal budget on Tuesday. Cape May’s council will hold a public hearing on the new spending plans and also consider a new ordinance that would adjust parking meter rates in the city. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 6:00pm.

Thousands of beaches were cleaned up around the Garden State on Saturday as part of Clean Ocean Action’s beach sweeps. Sweeps were held in many local shore communities as volunteers picked up everything from non recyclable plastics to tires.
Cape May Mayor Chuck Lear will be holding a town hall style meeting on May 1st at the city’s Convention Center. Lear says there will be discussion regarding plans for a public library and community center at the site of the Franklin Street School.
Four people have been arrested following a traffic stop last Thursday in Wildwood. City police say 44 year old John Dyes of Rio Grande was a suspect wanted in connection with the theft of a large amount of currency taken from a residence. Dyes was charged, along with three others on various drug offenses.
37 year old Ricardo Carillo-Santiago will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his estranged wife and her daughter. He was sentenced last week in connection with the killings back in 2015. The two victims were killed in her apartment, and the bodies taken to Fairfield Township where they were dumped.
