The Lower Township Council will introduce its municipal budget during Monday night’s meeting. The adoption of the new spending plan is expected in the middle of March. Council may also approve a resolution that would ask the county to lower the speed limit on Town Bank Road.

Governor Phil Murphy is expected to sign legislation that will greatly expand the family leave laws in New Jersey. The new measure will increase the eligibility period for paid family leave from six to 12 weeks and raise the amount earned by the caregiver to 85 percent of his or her salary.
Ricardo Carrillo Santiago has been convicted on charges that he murdered his estranged wife and her baby by another man back in 2015. Carrillo Santiago was in court before the weekend and heard the guilty verdict read by the jury. He will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Democratic lawmakers in our district have introduced a bill in Trenton that would financially supports tourism efforts in the Wildwoods. A bill sponsored by assemblymen Matt Milam and Bruce Land will supports the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority. The Wildwoods brought in $33 million in state and local taxes in 2015.
Atlantic City Police say a 14 year old boy has been charged with shooting another boy last week. The victim was found on Magellan Avenue and he will survive the shooting. The teenage suspect was found with a loaded gun, pot, and brass knuckles.
