WATER RATES GOING UP FOR THOUSANDS OF LOCAL CUSTOMERS

Customers of the New Jersey American Water Company will be paying over six percent more for water soon.  State regulators have approved a rate increase that translates into about three dollars more on a typical monthly water bill.  Customers should see a credit on their bills in November before the rate increase goes into effect.

Over 550,000 residents of New Jersey will vote via absentee ballot this year, an all time record.  State officials announced that the mid term elections generated a high level of interest in the balloting next Tuesday.  The last mid terms were four years ago; in that election, fewer than 150,000 absentee ballots were mailed.
