Avalon’s Borough Council met Wednesday afternoon and approved funding for a new park that will sit adjacent to the recreation building. Avalon has secured a $2 million grant for the project which will begin this month. Avalon’s Council also approved a preliminary design associated with relieving flooding in the north end beach blocks.

The County will be holding an event on Sunday to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Crest Haven Nursing Home. County officials will be at the facility on Sunday that will include tours of the facility and a few guest speakers.
He’s the “Iron Man” of Wildwood Crest. Crest Mayor Don Cabrera was presented with a plaque from his fellow commissioners after completing an Iron Man event in Maryland. During the 14 hour plus event, Cabrera swam 2.4 miles, rode a bicycle 112 miles, and finished it off with a 26.2 mile run.

New Jersey State Police are sending an emergency response team to Alabama to assist with Hurricane Michael relief efforts. Michael came on shore early Wednesday afternoon as a very strong Category 4 hurricane with maximum winds of 150mph. Hundreds of thousands of people are without power.
Some major repair work is coming to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The Delaware River and Bay Authority announced that expansion joint repairs will be conducted beginning on Monday, and lanes leading into New Jersey, and then Delaware, will be closed during this work. Traffic delays are to be expected.
