A couple of local football teams suffered gridiron losses Friday night. Ocean City lost its first game of the season, 38-6 to St. Augustine Prep in a game broadcast live on 106.3FM the Shore. And Wildwood was defeated by Gloucester City, 48-8.
A Hamilton Township police officer was injured in an automobile accident Friday afternoon. Police say a police vehicle was struck by a pickup driven by 37 year old David Massler of Mays Landing on Route 40. Massler was charged with careless driving; the officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Cape May County is now offering free transportation from Ocean City to the County Health Department for families who need assistance from Family Planning Services. County Health Officer Kevin Thomas says there may be additional transportation services offered from other parts of the County in the near future.

Lower Township Police have announced that the Middle Thorofare Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic next Sunday morning, October 7th. Officials say the bridge will be closed between the hours of 7:00am and 9:30am for the first annual Crest Best Run Fest event. Local businesses will be accessible during the event.
