Wind energy projects appear to be coming to the southern New Jersey coastline. The state of New Jersey has deemed the application for a small wind project off the coast of Atlantic City complete, and it’s undergoing a review. Construction could begin in the fall, and it’s possible state residents will be footing the bill.

A Cape May County resident has tested positive for West Nile Virus. County health officials say the man is currently recovering at a local hospital. The County has 11 collections of mosquitoes that have tested positive for the virus; they have come from Lower Township, Middle Township, Avalon, North Wildwood, and Cape May City.
Cape May County agencies are teaming up with the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security to hold a Hometown Security Seminar later this month at the Cape May Convention Center. Thee event will be held on September 18th and will include topics such as reporting suspicious activity, and cyber security.
Congressman Frank LoBiondo announced that four USDA grants have been awarded in his district, three of them in Cape May County. Two grants were awarded to Wildwood, one for the purchase of turnout gear for the city’s fire department. Another grant is headed to Avalon for a solar array.
Two incumbent members of the Cape May City Council will not seek re-election. Bea Pessagno and Roger Furlin did not submit nominating petitions to run for office.
