Middle Township’s boys and girls soccer teams met the Philadelphia Union last Thursday. The teams were able to meet Union players and coaches, and hold a training session on the field. Middle Township’s boys team will play Mainland at Talen Energy Stadium on October 9th.
There will be no more bear hunts on New Jersey state property. Governor Murphy signed an executive order that eliminates the bear hunts on any state land. Murphy is asking State lawmakers to consider restricting bear hunts on other property as well.

The United State Coast Guard on Monday called off the search for a missing swimmer in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware after the man’s body’ was found by police. A helicopter from Atlantic City was dispatched to search for 43 year old Timothy Toner, who’s body was found south of Dewey Beach, Delaware.

Three firefighters in Wildwood have been certified by Rutgers University after successfully completing course work for Certified Public Manager training. Ernie Troiano III, James Grauel, and Captain Daniel Dunn completed the ten-month training. All three graduated on Friday.
Wildwood Crest has announced that its beaches will be fully guarded during the Labor Day holiday weekend, and the weekend following the holiday. However, only five beaches will be guarded during the week in between due to guards returning to school and other ventures during the middle of the week.
The Lower Township Council meets this evening and will consider a $3.9 million bond for the Rosanne Avenue flood control project. Council also will entertain discussion from a local engineer regarding Schellenger’s Landing. The meeting begins at 7:00pm.
A 41 year old woman was killed after her vehicle was struck by a pickup truck in Vineland Sunday afternoon. Police say Rochelle Caldwell of Vineland lost her life when her car was struck on West Chestnut Avenue. The 21 year old driver of the truck that struck Caldwell fled the scene of the accident.
