The Lower Township Council will meet Monday evening and introduce the 2018 municipal budget. The budget message will be delivered by Township Manager Jim Ridgeway. Council may also authorize a $150,000 payment for dispatching services. The meeting begins at 7:00pm.
North Wildwood’s city council will meet Tuesday and could award various contracts. Council may award a contract for the 2nd Avenue Seawall and Beach Access Improvements, and another contract for the 24th Avenue boardwalk access improvements. A contract may also be awarded for the demolition of the former Heston’s Gas Station.
It looks like the dispute between the City of Cape May and former Police Chief Robert Sheehan is headed to court. Special meetings were held by the Cape May City Council over the past several days. The issue over Sheehan’s eventual demotion by the city could be heard in Superior Court as early as Monday.
Ocean City now has a clear path on the entire length of its boardwalk. Mayor Jay Gillian announced that the reconstruction project has advanced to the point where the decking has been restored in front of businesses between 10th and 12th streets. Various railings and lampposts are being re-installed.
Victories Friday night for both boys basketball teams from Ocean City and Lower Cape May. Ocean City knocked off Absegami, 66-45 thanks to 12 points from Tom Jamison. Lower Cape May got 14 points apiece from Patrick Holden and Zach Cerasi to defeat Oakcrest, 48-30.
Pleasantville Police continue their investigation into a fatal shooting in the city that occurred Thursday night. Police say a man was shot to death inside a car parked on Stenton Place. So far, no witnesses have come forward and police do not have any suspects in custody.
Friday night was a huge night for the Middle Township wrestling program as the Panthers beat Burlington City, 57-12. Coach Matt Wolf won his 100th career match, while senior Gary James Nagle won his 89th career match, the best in Panther wrestling history. Governor Phil Murphy has signed an executive order that directs the State to implement the Offshore Wind Economic Development Act. Murphy says it’s time for the State to take action on offshore wind power. His order now allows the State Board of Public Utilities to create various rules to get projects underway.

Someone was passing around photos of alleged muddy water coming out of the taps at Vineland High School on Friday. School officials say they received numerous copies of the photos but alas, they were all fakes. The school quickly noticed that the school doesn’t even have the taps that were noted in the photos.
