Robert Nolan will be your next Sheriff in Cape May County. Nolan defeated democrat Richard Harron by nearly 700 votes in a razor tight election on Tuesday. Nolan will replace Gary Schaffer, who did not seek re-election.
The republicans have swept the two Township Committee seats in Dennis Township. Numbers were released by the County at 9:42pm which show Thomas VanArtsdalen III and Scott Turner winning by fewer than 100 votes over democrats Donald Tozer and Dorothy Merlino.
Cape May County’s most interesting election on Tuesday night involves the race for Sheriff. With 107 of 127 districts reporting, republican Bob Nolan holds a less than 100 vote lead over Richard Harron. Nolan has 12,811 votes compared to Harron’s 12,725. Final numbers should be coming in soon.

The two seats on the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders will likely stay in the hands of the republicans. With 25 districts reporting, Will Morey and Jeffrey Pierson hold leads over democrats Danielle Davies and Gregory Wall. Morey is the only candidate with over 30 percent of the popular vote, so far.
