The defense has rested in the corruption trial involving United States Senator Robert Menendez. Next up in the trial will be closing arguments and jury instructions. Menendez did not take the stand in his own defense.
More information is forthcoming regarding a very serious two vehicle motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway in Middle Township Monday morning. Police say there were multiple injuries in the accident which closed a portion of the Parkway locally as police cleared the scene of victims, and debris.
Nick Elisano is now a member of the Dennis Township Committee. The Committee met last week and approved the appointment of Elisano, who replaces Melanie Smith. Smith resigned because her husband accepted a job in Florida.
Avalon has again achieved a certification in the state’s Sustainable Jersey program. State officials announced that Avalon is one of 70 communities who have attained the certification this year as an endorsement for its proactive management of its environment and ecosystem. Avalon has implemented many new environmental projects over the past two years.

The Cape May County Park and Zoo has officially received its accreditation through the year 2022. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums presented County officials with the official accreditation during a ceremony on Friday. Fewer then ten percent of the licensed facilities in the United States receive this designation.
A 38 year old man from Wildwood Crest has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle last week. Crest Police say Keith Baybo was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, and other offenses. The vehicle allegedly stolen by Baybo was involved in a hit and run accident in Pennsylvania.
Another poll, another huge lead for democrat Phil Murphy over republican Kim Guadagno in the gubernatorial race. Today’s poll from Quinnipiac gives Murphy a 20-point lead over Guadagno in the race for the State’s top elected position. Guadagno has only 29 percent support from women.
The Philadelphia Phillies have hired Gabs Kapler as their new manager, replacing Pete Mackanin. Kapler has worked for the Dodgers as the director of player development and he played 12 seasons in the major leagues. Kapler has no previous ties with the Phillies.
