Amy Andersen of Cape May Court House is the 2017-18 Governor’s Teacher of the Year. The State Board of Education announced the selection of Andersen this week, who works for the Ocean City School District as an American Sign Language teacher. Andersen has been teaching sign language in the district for 13 years.
Bruce Springsteen will never run for governor of New Jersey. Springsteen told an entertainment magazine that he has no business in politics, and no interested in policy-making. Springsteen also admits that people come to concerts to be entertained, and music does that well.

Republican gubernatorial nominee Kim Guadagno says she would not change New Jersey’s gun laws, if elected. Guadagno told reporters this week that New Jersey already has some of the toughest gun laws in the United States. She says better enforcement of the current laws is on her radar.
A traffic accident involving a truck shut down both westbound lanes on the Atlantic City Expressway near Atlantic City Tuesday morning. One lane was reopened to traffic following the accident a few hours later. Police say traffic was diverted for safety as diesel fuel was spilled on the roadway.
Egg Harbor Township Police are looking for the suspects who participated in a home invasion robbery Tuesday night. Police say the men ordered a couple into their garage where they were tied and taped so the burglary could occur. The unidentified suspects left two handguns behind.
A Camden County woman remains in jail after she beat her boyfriend to death by using frying pans. Authorities say Maleia Cole beat her boyfriend to death by repeatedly hitting him over the head with frying pans in early September. The victim died three weeks after the beating.
Sad news coming from the Cape May County Park and Zoo today. Zara, a young female snow leopard who was introduced to the public three months ago has died after an acute illness. Zara’s mother and sister are now being monitored closely to ensure they remain in good health.
Westbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway just outside of the gaming resort were closed this morning due to an accident. There is a chance that westbound traffic could be closed for a few hours near the Convention Center. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
The former owner and operator of Wildwood’s Firehouse Tavern has died at the age of 80. Frederick Maier passed away on Friday. Maier operated the bar in Wildwood for over 20 years. Funeral services are private.
