The State will refund the reservations of campers who were shut out from parks and campgrounds due to the government countdown. It will take several weeks for credit cards to be refunded; those who paid with cash have to visit the state park individually. ##
Ocean City has announced the next phase of its beach fill project. Mayor Jay Gillian announced that the project returns this fall to build up the north end beaches, and comes at no cost to the city. Seaspray Road to 14th Street will be rebuilt during the next phase of the project. ##
Some local government agencies have been subjected to various ransomware cyberattacks. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office says the ransomeware is delivered via email from sources that appear to be legitimate. Officials are advising all agencies to update their systems, and back up their data. ##
A six year old Philadelphia girl is dead after she drowned at a motel swimming pool over the weekend. The girl drowned at the Nantucket Inn and Suites; she was on vacation with family members. The girl was pronounced dead at Cape Regional Medical Center Saturday evening. ##
Outgoing Cape May County Surrogate Susan Sheppard will be sworn in as a new Superior Court judge this week. Sheppard used to serve on the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders; she was nominated last month by Governor Christie to become a judge. ##
A prominent basketball star at Ocean City High School will continue her basketball career at a Division I university. The Gazette Leader’s Brian Cunniff reports that Grace Sacco will be playing basketball at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Sacco informed the school of her decision on Friday. ##
A house fire last weekend in Egg Harbor Township has been ruled suspicious. Fire officials say a blaze broke out at a home in Farmington and it was occupied by a homeless man and woman. The couple had to jump out of the second floor of the home to escape the flames. ##
Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno says it’s time for the State to sell off the beach house where Governor Christie was lounging during the state government shutdown. Guadagno says the home should be sold despite being a perk she may eventually enjoy if she wins the gubernatorial election in the fall. ##
It’s 12 years in prison for Anthony Martin of Atlantic City who dealt large amounts of cocaine and heroin in the South Jersey area. Martin received the long prison sentence on Friday after pleading guilty to a first degree drug charge. Martin was busted in Atlantic City in December, 2015. ##
A 23 year old Millville man was arrested while in possession of a handgun at the Cumberland Mall Friday night. Police say Jabar Selby did not fire any shots; police found Selby in the parking lot armed with the weapon. He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun. ##
