A 10 year old girl is dead after being electrocuted while swimming in a lagoon Saturday night in Toms River. Kayla Matos and two friends were using a raft and swimming in the lagoon behind a home. She was wearing a life jacket and in the presence of an adult when the accident occurred. ##
Some new homes under construction on West Spruce Avenue in North Wildwood partially collapsed Sunday afternoon. WPVI-TV reports that the structures partially collapsed late Sunday afternoon during fairly windy conditions at the shore. No injuries were reported. ##

North Wildwood’s city council meets Tuesday morning and is expected to review the city’s audit report for last year, and authorize the renewal of several liquor licenses. Council may also authorize some emergency sewer repairs on 6th Avenue between Surf and Ocean avenues. The meeting begins at 9:30am with an executive session. ##

Major recognition this week for Middle Township High School standout sports star Bridget Ruskey. Risky was named the Philadelphia Inquirer’s senior athlete of the year over the weekend. Risky was a three sport athlete for the Panthers and ended her career with 485 goals in girls lacrosse. ##
A long section of Route 47 in Cape May and Cumberland counties may be dedicated to veterans. Senator Jeff Van Drew announced that Veterans Memorial Highway at Delsea Drive would stretch from Wildwood north to Maurice River Township. Veterans organizations may soon contribute for signage along the highway. ##
A 23 year old Egg Harbor Township woman captured the Miss New Jersey Pageant Saturday night at the Ocean City Music Pier. Kaitlyn Schoeffel competed in the pageant for six years as Miss Eastern Shore, and will represent the Garden State in the Miss America Pageant in September. ##
