Cape May County republicans are supporting Downe Township Mayor Robert Campbell as a candidate for State Assembly.  The Cape GOP’s social media page is encouraging republican voters to support Campbell who’s name appears in column six.  The GOP dumped support for Brian McDowell soon after the legislative ticket was announced. ##

POWERBALL JACKPOT KEEPS CLIMBING IN GARDEN STATE

The Powerball jackpot keeps climbing.  There were no winners in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing which puts the estimated top prize for Saturday night’s drawing at $337 million.  It will be among the top 25 jackpots ever offered in a United States lottery. ##

PATERSON MAN CHARGED WITH DISTRIBUTING HEROIN LOCALLY

LOWER TWP. ANNOUNCES ROAD CLOSURES FOR TRIATHLON

Lower Township Police have announced some road closures and detours for the Escape the Cape Triathlon to be held Sunday morning.  Closures will impact certain roads in the Township including Ferry Road, Jonathan Hoffman Road, Seashore Road, and Bayshore Road, south of the Canal. ##

WILDWOOD CATHOLIC HIRES JOSEPH CRAY AS PRINCIPAL

Wildwood Catholic High School has hired a former school administrator from Philadelphia to be its next principal. Joseph Cray will replace Carolyn Miller, who is retiring, and Mary Kane who is returning as a teacher.  Cray is a 2005 graduate of Temple University. ##

DEADLY TRAIN ACCIDENT IN ATLANTIC COUNTY WEDNESDAY NIGHT

New Jersey Transit Police are investigating the death of what’s being described as a “trespasser” who was struck by a train in Hammonton last night.  The accident occurred just west of the Hammonton station on the Atlantic City rail line.  The victim was struck by the train shortly before 10pm. ##
