REPORT: COMMERCIAL DUMPSTERS COMING TO UPPER TOWNSHIP

Commercial properties will have to use dumpsters in Upper Township.  The Upper Township Gazette reports that the Township Committee approved an ordinance this week that requires the use of the dumpsters; commercial  properties may also contract with a private hauler for recycling pickup.  Businesses will be provided with one free 96-gallon container for recycling.

VINELAND MAN CHARGED WITH HITTING HIS GIRLFRIEND WITH A HAMMER

Vineland Police have charged a 54 year old man with hitting his girlfriend over the head with a hammer last weekend.  The Daily Journal reports that Billy Gerald of Gheysen Avenue was arrested after police responded to a report of an assault.  Gerald was held in the Cumberland County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.

A motel owner at the Jersey Shore could spend up to three years behind bars after he admitted this week to filing false tax returns.  Kenneth Bowden owns the Sand and Surf Motel in Seaside Heights.  He deposited hundreds of thousands of dollars into his personal bank account without reporting the revenue to the IRS.
