An old program is being reinstated in Wildwood. The City Commissioners are supporting the Clean and Lien program, which is designed to encourage property owners to maintain the exteriors of their buildings and keep their lots clean, free of unsightly debris and overgrown foliage.  The ordinance was passed in 2007, but has not been widely enforced recently.

A team of inspectors and public works employees enforce the ordinance.  Inspectors visit a property, either as a result of a  complaint or their own observation.  If a property is found to be non-compliant, the owner is sent a Notice of Violation via certified mail, which gives the owner ten days to abate the problem.  If the owner does not comply, the City cleans up the property and the costs become a lien and form part of the next year’s taxes on the property.
