WILDWOOD FOP RALLIES TO SAVE POLICE JOBS

Wildwood’s Fraternal Order of Police will try to prevent some police layoffs in the community.  The FOP has sent out a letter this week to residents that asks them to show up at the Wednesday evening city commission meeting to protest the layoffs of four police officers.  In the letter, the FOP argues that the costs of three of the four officers who are being laid off is paid for by a federal grant that runs through August, 2012.  The organization also believes that the city can afford to keep these positions with a $3 million budget surplus in tact.  The city recently sent out layoff notices that take effect on June 21st.  Wildwood’s commission also decided to privatize its trash collection operations.
